On a golden October morning by the tranquil Yanqi Lake, the 2025 UCAS Sports Meet unfolded amid cheers, laughter, and the crisp mountain air. Students from all corners of the world gathered to celebrate youth, unity, and the beauty of competition.

Student reporters from the International College captured these vivid moments through heartfelt interviews. From the thrilling hundred-meter races to the dazzling cultural performances, from the determination on the track to the laughter backstage—every story reflected the radiant spirit of UCAS.

As one of the interviewers, PhD student Dina beautifully summarized the essence of the day: “This is not just a competition—it’s about the unforgettable moments we create, and the unbreakable bonds we build.”

Among them, Hager from Egypt, the champion of the women’s high jump, stood out not only for her performance but for her passion and preparation. Since there were no high jump facilities at the Yuquan Campus, she and her class monitor, Jerry, reached out to the PE Department and managed to secure two precious practice sessions before the competition. In the quiet early mornings, she kept jumping, adjusting, and jumping again each attempt a reflection of her unwavering focus and love for the sport.

“I’m so proud and happy,” Hager said with a radiant smile. “This victory isn’t just mine—it belongs to everyone who helped me along the way.”

Patrick from Kenya reflected with enthusiasm: “The 100-meter sprint made me nervous, but it was a thrilling challenge. I met new friends and felt the unity among students from all over the world.”

For Rohit Singh, the event was not just about winning, but about testing oneself and embracing teamwork: “The cheering crowd, the spirit of every athlete—it’s something I will never forget.”

Ghelby Muhammad Faid from Indonesia described rehearsal with joy: “The main fun fact in the rehearsal is we love chatting with each other… that’s why the rehearsal was very amazing for me.”

After his shot-put event, Emad from Iran reflected sincerely: “Even though I didn’t win a medal, I met so many friends from different cultures, especially from China. As an Iranian, I hope for peace all over the world—that’s what sports mean to me.”

Irshad Khan from Pakistan explained the significance of his traditional attire: “This is our traditional clothes that I wear today for all Pakistanis.”

As the camera panned across the field, the sunlight glistened on every stride and smile. Different languages, different cultures, yet one shared passion—these students together composed a story of youthful brilliance at UCAS.

It was a day not only of strength and speed, but also of understanding and connection. The breeze over Yanqi Lake carried away the sweat of effort and dissolved the distance between nations. What shone brightest on the field was not just youth—it was the light of shared humanity.
