Call for the 2026 IC-UCAS Frontier and Interdisciplinary Sciences Spring School
The International College Frontier and Interdisciplinary Sciences Spring School (hereinafter referred to as the “Spring School”) is an innovative international education and training program jointly sponsored by the International College of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the CAS-ANSO Scholarship Program, and ICTP-AP, a UNESCO Category 2 Centre. The Spring School is open to both Chinese and international students of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The Spring School highlights the frontier, targeted, and interdisciplinary nature of its academic areas, emphasizes the deep integration of science and education, and aims to provide students with a high-level international platform for academic exchange and learning. At present, the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences is advancing its science-education integration model with high quality, working together with research institutes and other training units to build a world-class university. As the main base for the education and training of international students at UCAS, the International College is committed to fully leveraging the scientific and educational resources of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, accelerating the international development of UCAS and CAS, fostering a diverse and open international academic environment, and promoting the high-quality development of international student education in China.
The International College will continue to uphold the principle of “joint ownership, joint governance, shared benefits, and common development”, adhere to the educational philosophy of being “international, open, comprehensive, and forward-looking”, further deepen the integration between UCAS and CAS institutes as well as international cooperation, enhance the quality of international student training and academic influence, and strive to become a first-class college with distinctive characteristics, outstanding strengths, and international visibility and influence.
Hangzhou is known as a “City of Innovation and Vitality” and the “Leading City for AI Innovation and Development”. To promote the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent, the 2026 Spring School will be held jointly with the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study, UCAS, from May 25 to May 29, 2026, in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. This Spring School will bring together high-level faculty members from the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study, UCAS, and relevant research institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Focusing on the frontier of fundamental physics “from quantum to the universe”, the program will also extend to interdisciplinary fields such as information science, energy and environment, and earth and space sciences, fully reflecting the integration of basic research, frontier technologies, and interdisciplinary development. The relevant admission information is as follows:
I. Eligibility
Outstanding senior Chinese and international students currently enrolled at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
II. Application Procedures
1. Application period: Applications are open from now until May 21, 2026.
2. Please register via the following website: https://ic-en.ucas.ac.cn/form/326
3. Complete the attached Application Form for the IC-UCAS Spring School.
4. Print the application form and obtain the signature of your supervisor.
5. Submit the signed application form to the department in charge of student education at your training unit, namely your institute or school, for approval.
6. The department in charge of education at each training unit shall send the names and student ID numbers of approved applicants to the International College by email before the end of the working day on May 21. In addition, if an education administrator is assigned to accompany the students, please also submit the teacher’s personal information so that the working group can make unified arrangements.

40 participants.
IV. Admission and Funding
The International College of UCAS will be responsible for the preliminary selection and review of applicants, and will determine the final admission and funding list. Students admitted as formal participants will receive financial support from the International College of UCAS. The funding will cover tuition and miscellaneous fees, accommodation expenses during registration and classes (from the evening of May 25 to before 14:00 on May 30, excluding meals), as well as round-trip travel expenses between the city where the applicant’s training unit is located and the venue of the Spring School, excluding local transportation expenses.

Accompanying teachers: Each training unit may make its own decision. It is recommended that outstanding education administrators be selected to accompany the students and participate in the Study Program on China’s National Conditions.
